The Power of YOU: The Skillful Yogini Retreat for Women Teachers and Continuing Students

With Barrie Risman, E-RYT500, YACEP

February 14-16, 2020

Are you a yoga teacher or dedicated student longing to dive deep? Are you ready to take your practice to new levels of power, impact and clarity? Do you KNOW it’s time to steep yourself in yoga once again?

This is the “un-training” that is, actually the most important thing you can do for your practice and your professional development this year. It’s the most essential yoga training there is. Read on…

Think of the most inspiring practitioners you know, the people who carry the SPIRIT of yoga in their way of being, who effortlessly, yet powerfully, share their light with a world so in need of it.

Think of the best, most masterful teachers you’ve met, the ones who don’t merely share their knowledge with skill and clarity, but the ones who convey the ESSENCE of yoga. The teachers whose attainment you can sense when you are in the same room with them.

These are the yogis who change lives, who inspire, who innovate, who lead, just by being who they are.

Guess what? Those people didn’t get that way by only doing more and more trainings.

Yes, they invested in their learning, of course. But they did something else, something even more important.

They went deep into their own experience. And, they continue to carve out time REGULARLY to dig their well of inner experience of yoga deeper and deeper and deeper, to live the teachings more fully, to become the light.

They do this because they KNOW it is the only way to continue to serve, to continue to evolve and to continue to be a guiding force of goodness for others.

Yes, teachers, it’s important to invest in your skills and knowledge, to learn new techniques, to refine your skills. But FIRST AND FOREMOST, what will make the BIGGEST IMPACT in your teaching is not just the trainings you’ve done, It’s not the techniques or the sequences you’ve learned, it isn’t even necessarily the big names you’ve studied with.

The biggest thing that will make this shift your teaching is when YOU are lit up about your yoga, what it’s done for YOU in your own being and in your life. When you are naturally, effortlessly filled with joy and gratitude for the gifts of your practice.

When you refine your awareness in asana, penetrate the subtle nuances of the pose, and awaken new levels consciousness in your body,

When you drink from the wellspring of the enlightened wisdom of our tradition, When you sit in silence and your mind becomes still,

When you’re deeply connected to YOUR yoga,

THAT’S when YOU go from merely DOING yoga to BEING yoga,

You become the vessel for the awakened power of yoga to expand minds and hearts.

I realize I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. You already know that what I’m talking about is crucial for your longevity as a practitioner.

You KNOW the power of taking regular, dedicated time away from your everyday responsibilities to steep yourself in yoga, to dig your well deeper, to go further down your path with other sincere seekers.

You know from experience that unfolds is authentic, rich and ultimately irreplaceable. It’s the fertile soil from which unforgettable teaching unfolds. Through the depth of your own experience you become a carrier of yoga.

This, and only this, is how you become the person that helps to transform lives, the person that brings joy to people’s hearts, the teacher that people seek out.

I’ve been around the yoga world long enough to know it’s become all too rare to have opportunities to sit in a circle of seasoned, committed yogis.

To be with people who know how to create a crucible of transformation marked by respect, trust, authenticity, deep listening, and shared dedication to yoga as an integrated practice.

A small, intimate group, where space for solitude and reflection is not just a luxury, but a priority, where you’re not just a mat in a room with 50 or 75 or even 25 others.

A sacred circle.

A handful of us will dive deep into the full spectrum of yoga: deep and plenty of asana with brilliant, refined alignment technique, revelatory study, rich contemplation, extended periods of meditation, time in nature, meaningful inquiry and conversation, and personal, one-on-one guidance for your next steps on the path.

Based on Barrie’s best-selling book, Evolving Your Yoga: Ten Principles for Enlightened Practice, we’ll immerse ourselves in an intimate, authentic and transformative dance with the practices and wisdom teachings of yoga.

This is the real work of the yogi. It’s the work that can’t and won’t be instagramed.

If you’re longing to reconnect, to steep yourself, to take the next step in your journey that will change who you are as a student and as a teacher forever, I hope you’ll consider joining us.
