Yoga for Every Body. Really? Is this true? Is yoga for all bodies? If you live in a bigger body, you may have experienced pushing, distorting, and trying to fit into a pose; leaving you feeling anything but calm and peaceful.
In Brene Brown’s book Atlas of the Heart she says “We have to belong to ourselves as much as we need to belong to others. Any belonging that asks us to betray ourselves is not true belonging.” Participating in a yoga class without options for your body is not true belonging.
Christie has experienced this first hand in her own yoga practice. After divesting from diet and toxic fitness cultures, she was lost and did not want to practice asana (postures). However, there is hope and a well-needed shift in the wellness world is happening now with taking a more accepting approach when it comes to caring for our bodies.
Christie brings both her lived experience and extensive training to this series to teach you options to help customize and take ownership of your yoga practice at home or in a group setting.
