Supreme Release Yoga with Nicole

Soften the hold of accumulated tension in the body, mind, and heart through the deeply rejuvenating practice of Supreme Release Yoga (SRY).

By fully embracing support, you create space to turn inward and gently unwind the habitual gripping that arises from the body’s natural stress response. This gentle yet profoundly deep practice is especially beneficial for those with joint hypermobility or laxity, back and hip pain, full and busy lives, or an overall sense of depletion.

Who it’s for

This gentle yet profoundly deep practice is especially beneficial for:

  • Individuals managing back or hip pain

  • Those with joint hypermobility or laxity
  • People with full, busy lives or an overall sense of depletion

  • Those navigating fertility challenges, who are in the postpartum period, or managing other pelvic health concerns

SRY was a vital support for Nicole through her own fertility challenges and continues to be her primary yoga asana practice.

How it works

  • Supported yoga postures using props—and sometimes your own hands/arms—position the body at intentional angles to encourage inner alignment and deep muscular release.

  • Focus on pelvis and spine fosters spaciousness, steadiness, and a sense of being anchored within.

  • While sequencing varies, classes typically follow a bottom-up approach: tailbone → sacrum → pelvis → psoas → ribcage → heart space.

  • Pranayama + guided awareness support deep rest and integration.

What you’ll need

  • Yoga mat or cushioned surface

  • Bolster (or 2–3 blankets)

  • 3 additional blankets & 2 blocks

  • If attending via Zoom: something to elevate your legs (chair, ottoman, couch seat, or stacked blankets)

All props are provided for in-studio classes, though you’re welcome to bring your own.

If you’re longing to unfurl, replenish, and reconnect with the steadiness within, we invite you to gather with us for an upcoming Supreme Release Yoga offering.

Experience how supported rest and gentle release can help you feel more anchored, spacious, and renewed from the inside out.

Supple Psoas

6-Week Series with Nicole Blackwood

Tuesday, February 17 – March 24

7:15 pm (75 min)

The psoas is a deep, central muscle that connects the legs to the spine, traveling from the upper inner thigh through the pelvis and attaching along the lumbar spine and lower rib cage. It plays an essential role in movement, posture, and our ability to fold and sit.

When we spend long periods seated, the body adapts to this shape, often resulting in a chronically shortened psoas. This can show up as discomfort in the hips, low back, or groins as the body works to bring itself upright again.

The psoas is also closely linked to the stress response. In moments of fear, worry, or uncertainty, it naturally tightens to support protective and survival-based patterns. While this is an intelligent response, challenges arise when this tension becomes habitual.

In this series, we use supported SRY postures to unwind chronic holding and create a sense of safety and inner spaciousness. As the psoas softens, many experience greater ease through the spine and hips, improved posture, and a deeper sense of grounding and support from within.

For those new to the practice, Nicole recommends attending in person. All classes are recorded and available for one week after the live session.
