Therapeutic Yoga Series: Yin Yoga and Self-Myofascial Release

November 3 – Happy Hips and Legs
November 17 – Upper Body Bliss – chest, shoulders and neck
November 24 – Supple Spine – upper, middle and low back including the SI joint
A three part therapeutic series with Maria Hillier, Certified Yoga Therapist, that mindfully combines Yin Yoga and Self-Myofascial Release to ease and soften your body from head to toe, with special attention to areas where we often feel stiff, tight and tense.
The practice of Yin Yoga, with longer held yet supported poses, will focus on easing tension in specific layers of connective tissues (fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints) and Self-Myofascial release (aka self-massage with massage balls, yoga blocks and other props) will provide nourishing massage to muscles and fascia. Combined together, both practices will facilitate ease of movement, foster healthy tissues and help you feel better in the body you live in.
What you’ll learn:
- What Yin Yoga is and how it affects our tissues (fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments and joint)
- What Self-Myofascial Release is and how to affects our tissues (fascia and muscles)
- Variations of Yin Yoga poses and Self-Myofascial Release techniques to target specific areas of tension and tightness and options to serve and suit your unique body
What you’ll receive:
- Weekly 90 minute session either in studio or online
- Access to prerecorded videos of Yin poses and Self-Myofascial techniques so you can practice at home (available for a one month after the end of the session)
- PDFs with images and descriptions of Yin Poses and Self-Myofascial Release techniques corresponding to each session
- Small class size to foster community as we move, breath and learn together
