Discomfort in the shoulders, back, and neck is prevalent in our culture of sitting. Whether it is working at a desk or driving in a car, our sedentary lifestyles wreak havoc on our bodies. The mental demand of ‘doing all the things’ can also contribute to rounded shoulders because it’s our body’s natural defense mechanism to curl in and protect the most vulnerable areas during times of stress. Here’s a 9-minute video of four shoulder opening stretches that you could practice on their own or incorporate into any practice. These are also pregnancy friendly and great for new mom’s who are carrying around and nursing baby.
