Community Yoga Class with Cathy Duff

Class Cancelled for Saturday May 27.  New Date for Fall 2023 will be determined. If you are interested please email us at hello@nicoleblackwood.com

Families are often busy going from one activity to the next, whether it be hockey, gymnastics, birthday parties, or homework assignments.

Yoga is a perfect way to pause the busyness and to spend healthy, happy, quality time together. Which is why we’re offering a yoga class for the whole family!

It’s an opportunity for children and parents to relax, strengthen, have fun, and move their bodies in a playful and approachable way.

We’ll include partner and group poses, play fun and creative yoga games, while building confidence and self-esteem, as well as strong and healthy minds and bodies.

We will also practice breathing techniques for children (and parents!) to add to their coping toolkits. The breathing techniques can help with self-regulation and coping during life’s ups and downs.

Families will take away strategies that they can use at home to self-regulate, calm the body and mind, and connect at a deeper level to themselves – and each other.

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to connect to their minds and body….and to each other in a playful, loving way!

Geared towards kids aged 5-10 with their caregiver(s). One registration is required per family but please include the number of participants and complete the intake form for ALL children and adults attending.

This is a community yoga class and no registration fee is required to attend. We are taking monetary donations for Mother’s of Avalon if you wish to donate. This is completely optional as we do not want finances to be a constraint for attending this class.

Donations can be given by credit card by entering your desired amount on checkout. To leave a donation upon registration, click the button ‘Add a Pay What You Want amount’ under the registration form. Email transfer can also be sent to hello@nicoleblackwood.com. We will also be accepting cash donations at the studio.

Mothers of Avalon is a registered grassroots non profit organization, whose core commitment is to advance the support and well-being of parents and caregivers within the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador. This is accomplished through a variety of services, such as  providing home cleaning services to help lighten the mental and physical load of a struggling family. Another noteworthy service that is offer is through their Karma Collection, which is an emergency supply of essential items parents need, (diapers, wipes, formula, toiletries, non perishables foods, and hygienic products), that are delivered directly to the homes of requesting families. The MOA community remains committed to creating and maintaining a symbol and focal point for struggling parents and caregivers in the community. You can find them on Facebook here.
